More than 70,000 acres of wild North Dakota landscape stretch out to form Theodore Roosevelt National Park. This year thousands of visitors will travel here on summer road trips. Day travelers along I-94 can visit the South Unit of the park, including the park’s well-known Scenic Loop Drive. For those looking for a longer stay, consider a venture into the Elkhorn Ranch Unit of the park, one of President Theodore Roosevelt’s properties. President Roosevelt traveled to this area following the death of his wife and mother, attracted by the solitude, wildlife, and immense freedom of the wilderness area.
Today we’re sharing some photos from Theodore Roosevelt National Park, including a few from the Medora Hot Air Balloon Festival held every year in September in hopes you’ll consider adding this North Dakota gem to your Park Chasing list.
